The Change Book: A Blueprint for Technology Transfer.
Addiction Technology Transfer Centers.
This document was developed by the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) National Network to improve understanding about how valuable effective technology transfer is to the fields of substance abuse treatment and prevention. Technology transfer involves creating a mechanism by which a desired change is accepted, incorporated, and reinforced at all levels of an organization. Since implementing changes based on research can be difficult for treatment agencies and professionals, technology transfer can be one of the most valuable tools. Designed for administrators, staff, educators and policy makers, this manual seeks to increase knowledge about effective technology transfer methods and help build skills in implementing change within agencies. The document includes Principles, Steps, Strategies, and Activities for achieving effective change. The Principles are required elements necessary for successful technology transfer and the Steps are a guide to effectively creating and implementing a change plan. While the Strategies provide specific guidelines for working with individuals, groups, and multiple levels within an organization, the Activities are actual tasks that can be used throughout the process to affect knowledge, skills, and attitudes. A workbook is also included for use in designing and implementing change initiatives. (GCP)
