Contained in this publication are re-prints of articles which deal with guiding youth and families from risk to resiliency that appeared in the journal, Resiliency in Action. This compilation shares the results of scientific studies showing how people overcome risk, trauma, and adversity. The articles exemplify how the field of psychology is moving from the deficit approach to a strengths-based model. The collection also focuses on articles that help facilitate the practical application and evaluation of the resiliency paradigm. The book is divided into six sections which address the foundations of resiliency; resiliency and schools; resiliency and communities; creating connections through mentoring, support, and peer programs; resiliency and youth development; and resiliency and families.
