Jenny's Locket. Second Edition.
Simpson, Christine
This short narrative, based on one family's experience with an uncle who died of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), explores issues of death and dying, how AIDS is transmitted, and social attitudes toward persons with AIDS. The story is told from the point of view of Jenny, the 11-year-old niece of Uncle Paul, using first person narrative interspersed with journal entries. Jenny's typical, happy life is changed by sadness over her uncle's dying, and by fear of death and fear of rejection due to the social stigma attached to AIDS. (JB)
