This set of six activity books and a teacher's guide is designed to help students from eighth grade to adulthood with special needs to learn independent living skills. The activity books have a reading level of 2.5 and address: (1) "How to Get Well When You're Sick or Hurt," including how to take a temperature, see a doctor, and use medicines wisely; (2) "How to Use Money Wisely", including banking and being a wise consumer; (3) "How to Take Care of a Home", including making a home safe, keeping a home clean, and keeping washable goods clean; (4) "How to Stay Healthy, including good grooming habits, personal hygiene, good nutrition for good health, and keeping fit; (5) "How to Look Out for YOurself", including self-management skills, keeping emotionally healthy, keeping personally safe, and making healthy decisions about alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and sexual activity; and (6) "How to Set Up a Home", including choosing a place to live, understanding utilities, and furnishing an apartment. The separate teacher's guide provides additional hands-on activities for teachers to use as enrichment or as a challenge for more able students.
