The classroom assessment tool described in this manual offers teachers a method to identify academic needs across the curriculum for migrant, language minority, and mobile students. The primary strategy of this assessment system is to identify the knowledge and skill levels of these students in core curriculum areas. The tests, for grades 1 through 3, are designed with minimal dependence on language, but Spanish is the second language incorporated because it is the dominant minority language of migrants and limited-English-proficient students in the United States. The "Users Manual" section contains an overview and discussions of system use and development. Other sections contain the state standards (mapped to Utah standards), the standards and tasks for language arts, mathematics, and science, and student scoring forms. (SLD)
