CASASTART Field Guide: A Proven Youth Development Strategy That Prevents Substance Abuse and Builds Communities.
Columbia Univ., New York, NY. National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse.
The CASASTART Field Guide is the result of 9 years of research, experience, and evaluation in cities where the program has enhanced the capacity of communities to serve high-risk youth through formal partnerships that reduce their use of drugs and alcohol and promote their positive development. The Field Guide is a practical "how to" manual on implementing this program in the community. The manual provides clear and concise instructions on how to build a successful collaboration; develop trusting relationships with youth and their families; deliver the eight service components of CASASTART to every participant; and obtain funding and recognition to sustain your program. Appendixes include: Fund Development Web sites and Current and Former CASASTART Funding Sources. (Contains 11 references.) (ADT)
