Section 1 reviews technical managerial skills, such as using a personal leadership checklist, meeting skill expectations, and learning to lead by assisting. Section 2 covers socialization, including others' unspoken expectations and the need to learn the school's culture. Self-awareness is the theme of section 3. It points out the benefits of reviewing personal values, of avoiding some of the potential traps of being perceived as a typical boss, and helps the reader to organize a time line for his or her own learning and development. How to develop a support group may be the most important part of this section.
