Cumulative Supplement to the Law of Higher Education, Year 2000. Third Edition.
Kaplin, William A.; Lee, Barbara A.
This volume updates and supplements two earlier volumes, "The Law of Higher Education: A Comprehensive Guide to Legal Implications of Administrative Decision Making, Third Edition" (LHE 3d) and "A Legal Guide for Student Affairs Professionals" (SA). It covers developments from the press deadline for the LHE 3d through the end of 1999 and contains brief coverage of selected developments from the first half of 2000 (including major U.S. Supreme Court cases decided through the end of the 1999-2000 term). It includes discussions of court opinions, statutes, regulations, and related developments as well as cites to selected law journal articles, books, web sites, and other new resources. It is organized to parallel LHE 3d, with cross-references to parallel sections of SA. The nine chapters are: (1) "Overview of Postsecondary Education Law"; (2) "The College and Trustees, Administrators, and Staff"; (3) "The College and the Faculty"; (4) "The College and the Students"; (5) "The College and the Community"; (6) "The College and the State Government"; (7) "The College and the Federal Government"; (8) "The College and Educational Associations"; and (9) "The College and the Business/Industrial Community." A case index and statute index are provided. (SM)
