This booklet is the second in a series designed to assist parents who are home-schooling their adolescent children. The articles in the booklet are: (1) "Less is More," encouraging home-schooling families to take advantage of local, free resources before buying materials from a curriculum fair; (2) "Putting Together an Eclectic Curriculum," discussing how teenagers and their parents can work together to plan a curriculum incorporating traditional and non-traditional materials, unit studies, volunteer and community activities, and other approaches that encourage autonomy and enthusiasm for learning; (3) "Self-Directed Learning," providing suggestions for helping students become self-directed learners; and (4) "Lexicons, Map Books and Synonym Finders," discussing considerations for selecting essential reference books for creating rich home learning environments.
