Transition Behavior Scale IEP and Intervention Manual: Goals, Objectives, and Intervention Strategies for Behavior Necessary for Success in Independent Living and Employment.
McCarney, Stephen B.
This manual provides educators with goals, objectives, and intervention strategies for behavior problems identified by the "Transition Behavior Scale-Second Edition," an assessment of the behaviors of students (ages 12-18) which will interfere with successful transition to independent living and employment. The areas evaluated by the scale (work related, interpersonal relations, and social/community expectations) are those areas which evidence indicates relates most directly to success in employment and societal transition. Goals and objectives identified in the manual serve as samples which may be used in writing Individualized Education Programs for students with special needs preparing for transition. Interventions listed under each behavior problem are designed to serve as a guide for program development or change for any student in need of behavior improvement. The manual begins by describing the steps for using the manual in conjunction with the Transition Behavior Scale-Second Edition, and then lists goals and corresponding objectives for 62 behaviors needed for employment and independent living. Fifty or more interventions are then presented for developing each of the behaviors. An appendix includes sample behavioral contracts and reports. Strategies for preventing behavior problems are also listed. (CR)
