Pennsylvania College of Technology Project Profile Report, 1999.
Fickes, Patricia; Cunningham, Stephen
The Project Profile is a biannual document providing a series of comparative reports about student demographics and related characteristics at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Data were collected from student admissions applications and questionnaires for the fall semesters from 1995 to 1999, providing longitudinal information on several demographic trends. For clarification purposes, adult students are characterized as being age 25 and older and traditional students are aged 17-24. Other student classifications include degree seeking, nondegree seeking, full-time, part-time, new and returning students, and nontraditional students. The following results were reported: traditional-age, male, middle and upper-income enrollments are increasing; adult, female, low-income and first-generation college students are in decline; most entrants come from the middle and bottom thirds of their high school classes, despite increases in family income; part-time and nondegree enrollments are declining; adult students, females and minority students expecting to hold full-time jobs are more likely to enroll part-time, with part-time adults the most likely to hold jobs while in college; and adult students are much more likely to be female, nonwhite, and come from low-income families. Summary data tables and a sample of the student questionnaire are included. (AF)
