This essay examines the ways in which political science, as a discipline, has been influenced by feminist scholarship in the field. It explains that gender politics theory and research have grown tremendously since the late 1960s, focusing not only on including women in research on political behavior and policy, but also reevaluating the theories, models, and methods of the discipline. The essay goes on to offer examples of some of the contributions of gender politics research, emphasizing questions that would be easy to integrate into the typical undergraduate political science program, including examples from the subfields of American government and politics, comparative politics, international relations, methodology, political theory and philosophy, and political behavior and political psychology. It is concluded that gender is an element of the organization of political structures and processes in most political systems that is too important to ignore.
