This 37-minute videotape recording demonstrates selected interventions to assist infants and toddlers with multiple disabilities, including vision and hearing loss, in developing early communication and other skills. Emphasizing the critical importance of early intervention, the video is designed to help service providers and families create effective communication strategies that encourage cognitive development and functional abilities in young children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities and those who are deaf-blind. A guide accompanies the videotape and describes the challenges of deaf-blindness and early intervention legislation. Each segment of the videotape is discussed, with key concepts highlighted.
