This manual is a guide to an interactive training program designed to address key skills necessary in today's high performance workplace. Throughout the module's 24 lessons, which can be used to create a 36-hour training program, students are given many opportunities to practice newly developed skills such as the following: finding the correct information; identifying how to communicate and cooperate effectively in a group; reporting job-related information; locating the main idea in a paragraph; finding important facts and details; understanding sequence of events; understanding the importance of completely reading directions before beginning a task; understanding and properly using ordering words; accurately recounting step-by-step directions; using expressions to help request, give, and clarify directions; using chronological order to write step-by-step directions; utilizing correct prepositions while following directions; filling out forms correctly; and measuring return on investment for training. The training manual includes an instructor's guide that contains activities for each lesson, transparency masters and student handouts, information sheets, teaching suggestions, and pre- and posttests; and a supervisor's guide that contains two lessons on improving basic skills.
