The Art of Classroom Inquiry: A Handbook for Teacher-Researchers.
Hubbard, Ruth Shagoury; Power, Brenda Miller
This handbook is devoted to the process of teacher research. It shows teacher-researchers how they can pursue their research activities systematically and carefully and provides a number of research techniques, methods for categorizing data, and suggestions for publishing research. The chapters are: (1) "Try To Love the Questions Themselves: Finding and Framing a Research Question"; (2) "The Artist's Toolbox: Strategies for Data Collection"; (3) "Form and Function: The Research Design"; (4) "Pentimento: Strategies for Data Analysis"; (5) "The Legacy of Distant Teachers: Creative Review of Literature"; (6) "Writing Up Research"; and (7) "You Are Not Alone: Finding Support for Your Research." Four appendixes contain a discussion of research designs, an Incentive Education Project Proposal Form, the names and addresses of teacher-researchers featured in the book, and a list of nine resources for publication. A glossary and list of 61 suggested readings are also included. (Contains 25 figures, 5 tables, and 73 references.) (SLD)
