This report provides statistical data on public and private higher education in Pennsylvania in 1997-98. Thirty-three tables and eight figures provide data on basic student charges (including data on tuition, room and board, in-state versus out-of-state charges, and average annual increases 1988-89 through 1997-98); fall enrollments (including data for 1988-89 through 1997-98 by institution, age, sex, major, and level of program); residence of students; degrees conferred (including data for 1987-88 through 1996-97 by institutional category, race, sex, major, and level of program; faculty and staff (including data from 1988-89 through 1997-98 on average salaries, tenure status, and salary increases; and finance (including data for 1998-92 through 1995-96 on revenues and expenditures by source and institution. Three appendixes include a glossary, notes on sources, and a list of nonrespondents. (DB)
