An introductory text for preservice education majors or practicing classroom teachers new to the concept of integrating the arts, this book helps teachers meaningfully integrate literature, art, drama, dance, and music throughout the curricular area by providing a basic arts knowledge base, clear reasons for integration, and specific arts integration principles. It includes actual teacher stories, lesson plans, tools to plan original lessons and units, and compendia of seed starter strategies in chapters for each art and a separate chapter in integrating the arts with other arts. Differentiated instruction is addressed throughout the book using a model to particularize instruction by 10 different adjustments to meet the diverse needs of students.
