This issue focuses on a project to develop a set of curricular materials using Internet-based resources and the formation of a staff development/project implementation team of instructors. Section 1 provides a project rationale, summary information about findings and lessons learned, and results of needs assessment surveys conducted in Oregon. Section 2 consists of six lessons on the following topics: the things that might appear on a webpage; information about biographies, solar system, and places around the world; practice in critical reading and writing; ways to evaluate information on the Web; reading e-mail; and sending e-mail. Section 3 has two lessons that introduce the user to using the Web for virtual tours and skill-centered field trips and show how Web resources can be used as learning tools. Section 4 provides three lessons designed to aid the Internet user become comfortable and efficient in using the Internet to find information on a variety of topics. Each lesson has some or all of these components: lesson guide with skill-building list, objectives, description of activity, and resources; background information; activity sheet; and assignment. Section 5 provides guidelines for project implementation; annotated list of tutorials, guides, and resources for staff development; and appendix with agendas, sample forms, and other information.
