Based on the success of the Fourth World Conference on Women, the National Women's Education Centre of Japan planned and carried out the 1995 International Forum on Intercultural Exchange to search for an up-to-date understanding of the problems of women and ways to solve them and to develop a network of already existing groups. This Forum focused on four issues: (1) international cooperation; (2) environmental protection; (3) education; and (4) participation in decision making to ensure the improvement of women. A summary of comments at the Plenary Session is also included, as are remarks by the conference organizer and the Director General of Japan's Lifelong Learning Bureau. (SLD)
