These two newsletter issues recount activities of Voices for Illinois Children to ensure that basic needs of children, families, and communities are met. The summer issue notes various bills in progress in the Illinois House, and looks at the lack of health insurance affecting more than 300,000 Illinois children. Child advocacy efforts are also detailed, including the 10-year anniversary of Voices for Illinois Children. The winter issue details a "Start Early" campaign to apprise parents with limited resources of the importance of nurturing their children's early development, and a meeting of community members, business leaders, and state policy makers to improve the conditions of Illinois families. The role of community leadership in improving the well-being of children and families is also discussed.
