The abstract booklet contains 38 one-page abstracts of grants awarded by the Indian Vocational Education Program for 1996-98. The grants were awarded to projects offering job training, technical training, small business training, and job placement services to American Indian and Alaska Native adults and high school students, primarily those living on or near reservations or in Alaska. The grants run for 12-15 months and award federal funds ranging approximately from $242,000 to $920,000. Organized alphabetically by grantee name, each abstract has the following format: grantee; project title; award number; project director's name, address, and telephone/fax number; amount of federal funds awarded; award period; federal project contact's name and telephone/fax number; and educational levels. Project objectives, procedures, program summary, and estimated number of trainees are briefly described. Accompanying this document is a directory of all project directors for these grants. Arranged in alphabetical order by grantee name, each entry provides project director's name, address, and telephone/fax number. The award number for each grant is also given. (TD)
