Practical Guide to Services for People with Severe Lifelong Disabilities.

This guide to services in South Carolina for people with severe disabilities is divided into seven sections. Section 1 covers the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DSN) and includes information on how to access services, services offered by DSN boards, addresses of DSN board members, services and offices of the autism division, prevention and genetic services, and developmental evaluations. Section 2 is on other state government agencies that provide services to people with disabilities and special needs. Among these are school districts, county mental health offices, the Governor's office, and assistive technology services. Section 3 provides an alphabetical list of services and organizations by service need and includes addresses, phone numbers and fax numbers. Section 4 offers an alphabetical list of South Carolina support group organizations, their addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers. Section 5 lists additional resources such as toll-free telephone numbers, publications for consumers, foundations and fund-raising organizations, and organizations for professionals. Section 6 is an index by subject and Section 7 an index by title. (DB)
