This report presents data from Making the Grade's 1995-96 survey of state initiatives to support school-based health centers. The survey's main findings reveal that there were 900 such centers providing care to children during the 1995-96 school year, representing a 50 percent increase over previous year. The importance of state funding for these centers is reported, and the primary sources of state-directed support are discussed. The report indicates the spread of centers into the southern and western regions of the United States and the number of centers per state. The report also presents the number of centers located in each level of school, including K-12, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and other schools.
