This comprehensive set of materials is designed to facilitate the development of skills and knowledge needed to be a successful learner and a successful teacher. The materials include: two videotapes, each featuring four 15-minute programs; viewer guides for each program segment which contain a summary of the program, goals, expected outcomes, key themes and topics, and suggested discussion points and activities; and a user/facilitator manual. In Part 1, "Learner-Centered Principles in Practice," the video programs and viewer guides include an overview of learner-centered principles and case studies of three high schools using learner-centered principles for educational change. In Part 2, "Stories of Change," the four video segments and viewer guides address context and need for change, the transformation process, consequences and results, and creating a new culture. The user/facilitator manual includes the objectives, components, and rationale for the program; the program's staff development process; implementation of the program and two support workshops; blackline masters for exercises; and suggested resources and additional readings. An additional pamphlet, "Learner-Centered Psychological Principles: Guidelines for School Redesign and Reform," prepared by the Presidential Task Force on Psychology in Education of the American Psychological Association is included.
