Facts and Figures: A Compendium of Statistics on Ontario Universities. Spring 1994. Volume 2.
Council of Ontario Universities, Toronto.
The purpose of this compendium is to provide consistent and accurate statistical and graphic information on the Ontario (Canada) university system. There are six sections which provide: (1) Ontario population data; (2) financial data including revenues and expenses with expendable revenue by source, operating revenue by fund, and expenses by object class; (3) student data including headcount, undergraduate and graduate enrollment by field of study and level, applicants and registrants, female/male ratios, degrees awarded (by level, discipline, and gender), other student characteristics, participation rates, and student/faculty ratios; (4) fees data including differences between Canadian and foreign students; (5) faculty and staff data including full and part-time faculty and non-academic staff; and (6) physical facilities data. Data are generally provided for 1983 through 1993 except population data which are for 1991. Tables are derived from Council of Ontario Universities reports and databases, Statistics Canada publications, 1991 Canada census data, and from special runs by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training. Appendix A is a glossary of terms and definitions and Appendix B contains the footnotes and data sources for each of the tables. (JLS)
