Statistics are presented on fall public and private school enrollment, the number of schools, and the number of staff employed. Numbers of dropouts and graduates are detailed, and information is given about educational finance, such as per pupil costs and major state aid programs. Participation figures are provided for special programs, such as special education, adult education, vocational education, and correctional education. Some statistics about other services, such as school media centers, are included. Maryland ranks thirteenth among the states in current expenditures per student in both average daily attendance and per pupil in fall enrollment, but is sixth in per capita personal income.
