Implementing a System To Acquire Necessary Client Supplies for Families Served by a Centralized Child Care Social Services Department.
Van Horn, Sandra D.
A practicum project proposed a series of solutions to the lack of sufficient funding for a centralized child care social service department. Political advocacy and lobbying efforts, accountability, needs assessments, coordination and collaboration, knowledge of funding sources, and the development of a comprehensive fund-raising campaign were all strategies suggested for acquiring more appropriate program funding. A three-part strategy was implemented to acquire client supplies for a social services agency serving a county of 219,313 residents. The Practicum identified ways to acquire needed client supplies, determined appropriate fund-raising strategies to meet client needs, and informed the agency's Board of the need for and purpose of appropriate fund-raising, requesting that the Board undertake recommended fund-raising strategies. As a result of the implementation strategy, all needed client supplies were either acquired, promised, or earmarked for solicitation by specific, identified sources. (Eight appendices include a copy of the agency organizational chart, request list for client supplies, agency budget, and calendar plan for implementation activities. Contains 17 references.) (AA)
