Employment Statistics Report. 1995 Graduate Employment Survey.
Saskatchewan Inst. of Applied Science and Technology, Saskatoon.; Saskatchewan Dept. of Postsecondary Education and Skills Training, Regina.
The Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (Canada) surveyed 3,006 students who graduated from its 4 institutes and its extension programs in 1995 to determine their employment status, the relationship between their employment and their education, and their overall evaluation of the training they received. Responses were received from 1,869 graduates, including 1,558 from on-campus programs and 311 from off-campus extension programs. Major findings include the following: (1) 81% of the respondents were employed, 12% were unemployed, and 7% were not in the labor force; (2) 78% of employed respondents were in occupations related to their training and 79% of them were working full-time; (3) for graduates of on-campus programs, the average salary for respondents in full-time jobs related to their training was $1,833, while for extension graduates it was $1,659; (4) 62% of the on-campus respondents who were not working had worked at some time since completing their training, compared to 57% of the off-campus graduates; (5) 99% of all respondents rated the overall program quality as good to excellent, while 94% indicated that the training had met their expectations; and (6) 92% of employed respondents were working in Saskatchewan. Appendixes include the overall survey results, a list of off-campus programs included in the survey, a description of program changes from 1993-94 to 1994-95, and the survey instrument. (TGI)
