This workplace skills course on communication strategies at work is designed to begin the process of building effective communication skills for use in the workplace as well as in personal relationships. Introductory material includes a course description and objectives. The course consists of four sessions, each of which has these components: objectives, topics, methods, materials list, teacher tips, and information sheets and handouts. Topics covered in the sessions include the following: the communication process; different personality types and strategies for dealing with others; active listening skills; assertiveness skills; confidence building; use of professional behavior and respect to gain cooperation; conflict resolution; and non-verbal messages.
