This report presents survey data from the Survey of Federal Support to Universities, Colleges, and Nonprofit Institutions for Fiscal Year 1993. This is a survey of the 15 federal agencies that provide virtually all of the federal funding for science and engineering research and development (R&D) at universities and colleges. Data tables list federal obligations to universities and colleges by type of activity for the fiscal years (FYs) 1963-93. Data present federal obligations for science and engineering R&D, first by geographic divisions and state, for FYs 1986-93; second, by the 100 universities and colleges receiving the largest amounts, ranked by total amount received, by agency for FY 1993; and, third, by state, institution, and agency for FY 1993. Statistical data also show federal obligations to universities and colleges by: (1) type of activity and agency for FYs 1963-93; (2) geographic division and state for FYs 1986-93; (3) agency and type of activity for FY 1993; (4) geographic division, state, and agency for FY 1993; and (5) the 100 schools receiving the largest amounts, ranked by total amount received and type of activity for FY 1993.
