Butler, Shelley
This handbook was created through participatory research between November 1989 and July 1990. It includes ideas, experiences, and stories contributed by learners, tutors, teachers, and organizers at St. Christopher House, a group home for people with disabilities in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The handbook contains five sections: (1) who are the learners?; (2) one-to-one partnerships; (3) the Morning group (the group home participants and tutors); (4) conclusions, including two models of learning, issues for literacy organizers, and goals for the future; and (5) three appendixes listing handbook participants, defining 21 items related to disability, and providing 25 resources.
