This guide is designed for use in developing and implementing a competency-based program in practical nursing, especially in Virginia. It is organized in three main sections. Section 1 contains descriptions of the program and courses and a master task list. Sample teaching sequences, illustrating two possible sequences of teaching the tasks in the task analyses, are included. The section concludes with a comprehensive content outline. Section 2 contains an analysis of each task. A performance objective, criterion-referenced measure, suggested enabling objectives, and a list of resources accompany each task. Tasks are arranged by worker duty area, and the sample teaching sequences found in section 1 may be used as a guide for developing a teaching order of the tasks. Section 3 contains a bibliography listing 85 references, and a list of names and addresses of 28 audiovisual producers and suppliers. (KC)
