Results of College Admissions Testing in Texas for 1991/92 Graduating Seniors.
Texas Education Agency, Austin. Div. of Policy Planning and Evaluation.
Since 1989 the Texas Education Agency has reported selected results from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Board and the American College Testing Program's original and Enhanced ACT Assessment for prior year graduating seniors. This fifth annual report presents these data for the 1991-92 graduating class. Texas statewide and district results are displayed along with aggregate results of the nation and other states. Also included are selected test score trends and scores among student subgroups and among selected groupings of Texas regular and special public school districts. The Texas mean SAT total fell to a maximum of 31 points below the national mean during the past 22 years, although means in 1991 (23 points below the national mean) and 1993 (17 points below the national mean) show some gain. The mean ACT composite score gap between Texas and the nation is the least in the past 22 years. The score gaps are often attributed to overall academic preparedness among groups. Four tables, supplemented by five tables in appendixes, present test results. (Contains 16 references.) (SLD)
