This book addresses modern supervision in school health education in terms of improving the teacher/student learning medium. An introductory chapter provides an overview of the scope and function of the entire school health program. Chapter 2 is concerned with the meaning of supervision along with philosophy and principles. Organization of health education supervision at the various population levels is addressed in chapter 3, while planning and leadership in supervision comprises chapters 4 and 5. Chapter 6 gives a detailed list of the duties of the public school supervisor of health education. In chapter 7, techniques and instruments of observation are discussed along with methods of observing the teaching-learning process. Chapters 8 through 11 detail various supervisory techniques such as visitation, individual and group conferences, bulletins, and demonstration teaching. General methods of improving the health education teaching-learning situation are dealt with in chapter 12. The final chapter deals with community and public relations and supervision with emphasis on such factors as the place of the supervisor in community relations, principles of public relations, and media and agents for public relations in health education.
