Based on information from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, this report provides data and reports analytical findings on postsecondary education in Nebraska concerning enrollment, degrees awarded, institutional finance, and faculty salaries. Findings included: (1) total headcount enrollment in all state institutions in 1992 was 125,179 students, an increase of 1.8 percent from 1991; (2) 57 percent of total headcount enrollment was for full-time students; (3) each postsecondary education sector had more females than males enrolled and minority enrollment is 7 percent; (4) for all public institutions the number of first-time enrolled freshmen with Nebraska residence exceeded the number of non-Nebraskans and 37 percent of first-time enrolled freshmen in the state were enrolled in the University of Nebraska system; (5) over the 3 years since 1989-90 the number of degrees granted increased an average of 4.5 percent each year with the relative percentage of degrees granted remaining stable; (6) private career schools produced 20 percent of Nebraska's total postsecondary completions but had under 10 percent of the total headcount; (7) state appropriations for public institutions have increased at an average annual rate of 13 percent; and (8) state appropriations were 34 percent of public institutions' total revenue. Appendices make up the bulk of the document and consists entirely of tables provding detail on headcount enrollment, degrees awarded, institutional finance, and faculty salaries. (JB)
