Counselling Ethics Casebook.
Schultz, William E.
Ethical guidelines help professionals keep their activities within the bounds of accepted standards of preparation and competence. This casebook provides 252 examples of acceptable and non-acceptable behavior for counselors. It addresses ethical issues in professional counseling, the counseling relationship, testing and research, consultation and private practice, and counselor preparation standards. In addition, material helpful in dealing with complaints of ethical violations in a variety of situations is cited. The editors tried to present cases which reflected a variety of work settings for counselors. The book aims to assist counselors in their daily conduct, in their resolution of ethical dilemmas, help them define and facilitate counselors' relationships with employers and supervisors, and provide them examples that will clarify ethical guidelines. For those teaching courses on ethics, the questions and comments that are provided on ethical guidelines will benefit both students and instructors. Counselors, too, will be in a better position to deal with ethical dilemmas after studying the 252 cases presented here. Three appendices list ethical standards, guidelines, and procedures for processing complaints. (RJM)
