This document provides guidance to parents, educators, and health care providers in serving Utah students with special health care needs. An introduction defines special health care needs, outlines legal responsibilities, and notes the importance of transagency collaboration. Guidelines are then offered for the identification and placement process, training and transportation, and special administrative considerations. Appendices provide sample forms, the text of the Nurse Practice Act, guidelines for administration of medication to students, a glossary, a list of training and resource materials, a list of task force members, and an order form for ordering Guidelines and Procedures for Serving Students with Special Health Care Needs.
