This report provides an overview of student mobility between the member states of the European Community supported by the ERASMUS (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) Program in the academic year 1989-90, the third year of its implementation. It includes information on the Inter-University Cooperation Programs (ICP) and on the participating institutions of higher education and departments as well as on the students who were given an ERASMUS grant in that academic year. Information is also included on student mobility (size of programs, country of home institution and host country, field of study, timing of study period abroad, age, duration of study period abroad, gender, and student mobility grants); programs and participating institutions and units; students supported by ERASMUS (country of home institutions and host country, field of study, ratio of actual numbers of students to grants awarded, timing of study period, duration, and biographical profiles of participating students); ERASMUS mobility grants; "Free Movers" (participants under other conditions); the first year of the European Community Course Credit Transfer System (ECTS); and analysis of student reports based on a short questionnaire administered to all students on their return.
