Using Video Technology as an Instructional Strategy within the Elementary Science Curriculum.
Torri, Geno J., Jr.
This practicum was designed to increase elementary education interns' use of video technology within the science curriculum. Interns from previous semesters were not using technology within their final semester projects, and most were not comfortable using technology. The purpose of this practicum was to increase the scientific and technological literacy of the interns and develop a positive attitude toward the use of technology within their instruction. Within this practicum, the interns had the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence needed to be technology literate. A cooperative training program with the local public broadcasting station was developed, and instructional video technology was modeled within the weekly course presentation. Also, a video technology resource room was created for the interns. Analysis of the interns' final thematic unit presentation indicated an increased use of video technology, and, through a reflective attitude paper, all the interns stated an increased comfort level for using technology within the curriculum.
