This report of statistical data concerning Texas institutions of higher education begins with a list of the institutions, including public universities, public health-related institutions, public community colleges, the public technical college system, independent senior colleges and universities, independent health-related institutions, and independent junior colleges. Data are presented in the following eight categories: (1) student enrollment (5-year summaries of headcount enrollment; headcount enrollment by classification, ethnic origin, gender; first-time, full-time freshmen by ethnic origin and gender; retention of first-time students; resident and nonresident students); (2) semester credit hours by level and by program; (3) degrees awarded, by level, program, ethnic origin, gender; first-time, full-time freshmen who graduated within 6 years, by ethnic origin and gender; and bachelor's degrees awarded to transfer students from community colleges by ethnic origin and gender; (4) faculty headcounts by rank, ethnic origin, gender, tenure status; average salaries; student-faculty ratios; (5) governing board members and nonfaculty personnel by ethnic origin and gender; (6) physical facilities (investment in physical plant and net assignable facilities space by function); (7) higher education appropriations (all funds and general revenue, and per student appropriations); and (8) student financial aid recipients by ethnic origin and gender, and financial aid by type of aid program. A profile for each public university supplies data on students, degrees awarded, faculty, and nonfaculty personnel. (JDD)
