Turtle Power: Beginning Graphics with "LogoWriter."
Bergmann, Peggy; Keanie, Marlene
LogoWriter provides the means through which students of varying backgrounds and abilities can experience different types of learning. It involves using problem solving, graphing, critical thinking, and other creative strategies. The lessons provided in this book contain ideas that allow beginners to explore various areas of Logo while using LogoWriter. Most lessons begin with the concrete, body-centered geometry and move to the abstract. Each lesson includes a variety of activities. The lessons can be conducted in various settings. They are intended as an introduction to LogoWriter and are designed for students with little or no experience in using the program. The book is divided into four parts: (1) Part 1 provides an overview, including an explanation of the hardware, software, and learning environment; (2) Part 2 is the graphics section, containing 14 lessons that explain the graphics of LogoWriter; (3) Part 3 describes art ideas and related activities; and (4) Part 4 contains information on resources which support LogoWriter.
