This practicum was designed to utilize a shared decision making (SDM) committee model as a mechanism through which a long-range, comprehensive computer technology plan would be developed for a Jackman (Maine) school system. On-site research coupled with an extensive review of current literature produced a finding that long-range technology education planning had not previously materialized in the school due to the ad hoc fashion in which computer technology had pervaded the curriculum. A committee was established utilizing a shared decision making model. All parties with a vested interest were represented in the process. The sole charge to the committee was the development of a comprehensive computer technology plan. The results of the practicum were positive. A comprehensive computer technology plan, which will guide computer budget preparation and curriculum development, was developed and subsequently accepted.
