This report is a summary of the 1993 Virginia General Assembly Session and its actions regarding higher education. The 1993 session considered a record number of bills and resolutions with more than 1,500 passed and signed by the governor. Approximately 150 of the items pertain directly or indirectly to higher education in Virginia and include a number of requests for studies in which the Council of Higher Education will either participate or coordinate. The first section offers a summary of House and Senate Bills that were approved and pertain to higher education. The second section lists and describes a number of House and Senate study resolutions that the Council is involved in or has an interest in following. Finally the report contains a section that presents a summary of the budgetary issues and funding levels as a result of the 1993 session. Includes six tables and an appendix containing a final legislative summary of the 1993 legislative session. (Author/JB)
