This updated and expanded edition of a 1-year course on how to get a job and hold it, aimed at students with learning disabilities and their teachers, includes five teaching units: (1) vocational academics (mathematics, letter writing, telephone techniques); (2) vocational resources (responding to classified advertisements in newspapers, Social Security, and other information); (3) vocational values and attitudes (grooming, getting along with others); (4) vocational preparation unit (my vocational profile, interviews, safety, transportation); and (5) basic job skills (hands-on training in various occupations). Units include the following: objective, materials needed, learning activities, student goals, resources, teaching suggestions, and worksheets. The teacher's manual also includes information on changes in the Individuals with Disabilities Act that mandate that all special needs secondary students have Individualized Transition Plans. Five appendixes contain supplementary forms, a list of student worksheets, a list of suggested videotapes, a lists of supplementary resources, and a list of publishers. A bibliography lists 14 books, 17 articles, and 8 pamphlets. The student workbook includes a list of worksheets, objectives and goals, worksheets for each unit, and sample job search and application forms. (KC)
