College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA. School of Education.
The Center for Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, was established as a national center for the study and teaching of gifted children. It is one of only six centers in North America that offer the broadest scope of programs and services to diverse audiences that include graduate students, undergraduates, university faculty, public and private schools, precollegiate learners, parents, and the community. The Center's three major emphases are discussed: (1) graduate education; (2) research and development; and (3) a learning laboratory for precollegiate learners, their families, and schools. Future directions for the Center are outlined. Funding sources and numbers of learners served are noted. Biographies of faculty and staff are presented, along with a list of Advisory Board members. A list of 22 Center for Gifted Education publications is provided. (JDD)
