This resource directory lists a total of 255 foundations, corporations, and associations that are actively committed to assisting not-for-profit groups and that appear to target their financial support toward youth, education, guidance, vocational and career education, volunteerism, and mentoring. Twenty-six of the 255 possible sources of financial support are grouped into a special chapter of Texas-based foundations that donate primarily to groups located in the state of Texas. Each entry includes some or all of the following: the organization's name and address, a contact person, a brief abstract detailing the date it was established/incorporated, its apparent major fields of interest, the types of support it provides, the number of grants it awards, the average grant size, the amount of money it donated in 1989 or 1990, and the number of persons it employs. Also provided is a subject index listing those organizations that manifest a specific interest in these areas: child development, child welfare, education, elementary education, employment, higher education, minority education, secondary education, vocational education, volunteerism, women, and youth.
