This training facilitator's manual is intended to train individuals in implementing the Insights program for self- and career awareness for the elementary grades. Topics discussed in the introduction include: the theory of the Insights program, self-esteem, the basic assumptions of worth and worthiness, fundamental life questions and dynamic responses to them, awareness, social interaction, and mastery. Section 2 is a guide to sharing circles that presents guidelines for organizing and leading sharing circles and following basic sharing circle rules. Additional sharing circle strategies, including using the leader's turn to upgrade involvement of children, asking open-ended questions, and reviewing the material shared, are covered in Section 3. Outlined next are strategies for using the following types of Insight activities: dyads, triads, small group discussions, class discussions, brainstorming, dramatizations, creative writing, research, and art and music. Section 5 includes a training resources checklist and three training modules consisting of key activities. Each key activity includes a purpose, time requirement, list of materials needed, directions, and summary. Section 6 discusses coaching and debriefing a sharing circle, Section 7 answers 33 questions frequently asked by sharing circle leaders, and Section 8 lists 39 additional resources. (MN)
