Assessment Instruments for Career Development. A Bibliography.
Florida State Univ., Tallahassee. Center for Instructional Development and Services.
This bibliography focuses on assessment tools and techniques that can be used for career development in a school setting. It covers professional preparation for guiding assessment exercises, tools for screening students for readiness to undertake assessment activities and make career decisions, and assessment instrument instruments themselves. The 23 citations from the ERIC and Educational Testing Service databases include the following types: assessment and screening instruments, instructional materials, journal articles, microcomputer programs, project descriptions, research reports, and teaching guides. Each citation includes title, date, author(s) and/or developers, availability, and an annotation. The document also contains two articles. "Coming Alive from Nine to Five: The Career Search Method" (Betty Neville Michelozzi and Peter J. Michelozzi) outlines a career search program that sets up a basic foundation of self-assessment and includes descriptions of four self-assessment inventories. "Self-Identification of Talents: First Step to Finding Career Directions" (Henry G. Pearson) describes a Career Direction Workshop intended to teach people how to identify their talents and to link those talents to career fields that make the best use of them. (KC)
