The English-as-a-Second-Language instructional materials for new immigrants to the United States presented here include 12 instructional units, each containing 2-5 lessons, and supporting visual materials and worksheets. The unit topics include: introductions and partings; forms of transportation; expressing new experiences; using the telephone; sending letters; going places; looking for a job; the first day at work; money and shopping; buying produce; the classroom and school environment; and making new friends. Each lesson contains conversational expressions or narrative, writing exercises, pattern drills and vocabulary practice activities, dialogues, visual aids, and/or worksheets.
