This memorandum describes the programs and services available to women offenders in the Wisconsin correctional institutions for women. In the area of vocational and educational programs and services, this memorandum also briefly compares those available to women offenders with those available to male offenders in Wisconsin correctional institutions and centers. Part I discusses programs and services available for women offenders in the Wisconsin correctional system, including physical health services, alcohol and other drug abuse programs and services, mental health and social services programs, employment and work release programs and services, academic and vocational education programs, and other programs and services for women offenders. Part II describes programs and services at each of five correctional centers. Part III discusses other resources and services available to adult inmates in a Wisconsin correctional institution or center. The appendix includes a description of physical health services available at Taycheedah Correctional Institution; a list of rules on work/study release from the Wisconsin Administrative Code; a table of educational and vocational programs and courses at Wisconsin correctional institutions by institution and provider; a table of literacy, employment and vocational related programs, courses and classes offered at various Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions and centers; DOC's monthly education report; Ellsworth Women's Correctional Center's program statement; and DOC rules relating to visitation.
